OUR CURRICULUM

Experiences at Kitakids immerse children in thoughtfully devised play-based learning that encourages active experimentation, hands-on experiences and social interactions.

Our teaching and learning methods employ various forms of instructions, understanding that young children possess diverse intelligences and unique innate natures. Partnering with parents, we enable children to attain meaningful insights, while we cultivate strong foundations and enhance their learning to provide lasting benefits into adulthood.

The environment is strategically prepared for optimal learning. The learning areas focused at Kitakids include, ‘All About Me’, ‘Language & Literacy’, ‘The World Around Me’, ‘Numbers’, ‘Let’s Investigate’, ‘Art & Design’ and ‘Let’s Move’.

Our integrated curriculum is delivered thematically to bridge academic skills with the real world as we strive to offer holistic teaching and learning processes for children, educators, parents and the community.

E.G. SELF-AWARENESS, CULTURE, DIVERSITY, TRADITION

Finding the answers to what makes me “who I am” and “‘how other people are similar to and different from me” are what enables a child to understand and accept his or her unique individuality. This enables the children to be self-confident with self and appreciate other people who are different.

Identifying self, home and events outside our home and how we share our world with different species of animals and plants, will enable children to learn to protect and care for the environment and teach them to refrain from actions that can harm or destroy the world around us.

E.G. COUNTING, SORTING, GEOMETRY, PATTERNING, GROUPING, + – X /…

Number sense plays a vital role in our environment where objects are numerous and frequently mobile. In order to navigate through it, we make Math and Number Awareness fun and interesting for children with creative, hands-on-activities.

E.G. SCIENCE, ENGINEERING, INNOVATION, EXPERIMENTATION…

Providing new reasoning to explain the knowledge gathered through observing new phenomena, new actions, or new events and further examining and investigating through age-appropriate research is a skill that will prove invaluable in the learning journey of each child.

E.G. DRAWING, MOULDING, PAINTING, , STORY-TELLING, SCULPTING

Learning to create and appreciate visual aesthetics is important for the development of children as it encourages the formation of neural connections during the early years.

EG. MUSIC & MOVEMENT, SINGING, DANCING, PERFORMING ARTS, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Engaging in physical movement, helps children to enhance the control of their bodies, develop balance, gain spatial awareness, and strengthen fine and gross motor skills.

EARLY YEARS

Kitakids Early Years creates a safe space to nurture children, giving them a magical learning experience. They will be treated with respect, love and care, as we give them a stimulating programme of learning built around cognitive, emotional and physical development.

We offer a learning process inspired by the Australian Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which has an amazing series of experiences ranging from lessons conducted outdoors to hands-on activities, play-based learning, role-play and much more.

It is the first for parents and children, when they come to us. We have orientation visits where parents can sit in or even participate when your children take baby steps into a new world of learning.

2 to 12 Months - WITTY WOMBATS

In the first year, babies learn to focus their vision, reach out, explore and learn about the things that are around them. During this stage, babies also are developing bonds of love and trust with their parents and others, as part of their social and emotional development, a process that forms the foundation for future learning stages.

Kitakids provides a loving, caring atmosphere for babies to feel safe and supported.

1 to 2 - EAGER ELEPHANTS

During this stage, toddlers will show greater independence and imitate the behaviour of others, especially adults and older children. They are also able to follow simple instructions and directions, as they begin to understand themselves as individuals.

Kitakids provides a conducive environment for movement and speech.

2 to 3 – GROOVY GIRAFFES

Young children will experience huge thinking, learning, social, and emotional changes that will help them to explore their new world, and make sense of it. During this stage, they should be able to express a wide range of emotions, as part of their reinforcement of individual identities.

Kitakids provides a balance between social and emotional wellbeing.

3 to 4 - LEAPING LIONS

Children are inquisitive and are beginning to question and seek answers in relation to the world around them. They need understanding of the new knowledge that they are acquiring. Knowing the need to ask questions is a sign of intelligence as much as knowing how to answer.

Kitakids provides the environment for discovery and exploration.

KINDERGARTEN

Kitakids provides Kindergarten Programmes for 4 to 6 year olds to naturally progress through their own developmental milestones with the support of the Australian Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Preschool Standard-based Curriculum (NPSC).

Jolly Phonics which is a reading and writing programme from the United Kingdom helps to enhance reading and writing skills. It is a phonetic method of learning the alphabet. Forty-two letter sounds are taught first, then children are taught to blend sounds together to read words.

The children will also learn self-reliance and problem solving skills, responsibility for their belongings, bathroom independence, following multiple instructions, appropriate emotional expressions and confidence in addressing conflict and competition. Children will experience a year full of discovery, fun real personal growth form genuine friendships.

Parents or guardians will be able to access their children’s progress through our online portal. Weekly Reflections, monthly observations, bi-monthly learning goals checklists, photographs and portfolios will be uploaded for viewing.

The Communication Book is made available on a daily basis to enable parents to keep abreast the children’s activities throughout the day at school.

4 to 5 - COOL CROCODILES

Most children this age begin to develop greater independence, self-control, and creativity. They are eager to try new things and are better able to express their emotions. The physical environment is equipped with materials suitable for emergent reading and writing as this is the time they begin to enjoy that they are growing and developing new skills.

Kitakids provides the environment for children to enhance their interests and abilities to enjoy, developing new skills due to natural physical growth.

5 to 6 – TERRIFIC TIGERS

Developing autonomy to be able to pay attention, concentrate well and be away from home for extended periods of time, there is a relative stability in the children’s development. Powers of reflection and insight start to awaken, including the capacity to create vision and goals.
